How HSA Trackr Makes Money

Last updated by Will Mather

HSA Trackr's monetization model is a single HSA provider affiliate relationship - Lively. The other five major providers - Fidelity, HealthEquity, HSA Bank, Optum, and Further - have no commercial relationship with us, and we still rank Fidelity #1 because the fee and investment math says so. The full ledger is below. Nothing on this page is a paid placement.

Our editorial firewall

  • Ranking is independent of payment. Fidelity HSA ranks #1 on /best-hsa-providers and Fidelity does not pay us anything. If the math changes, the ranking changes - regardless of who is paying whom.
  • We name every commercial relationship. Every affiliate link on this site carries rel="sponsored" and the disclosure text appears within sight of the link, per FTC 16 CFR Part 255.
  • No pay-for-inclusion. We do not accept payment to add a provider to a list, change a rank, soften a review, or remove a competitor.
  • No guest posts. Every article on HSA Trackr is written by the named author byline. We do not accept guest contributions or sponsored content disguised as editorial.
  • Errors are corrected within 48 hours. If a reader flags a factual error, we verify against the provider's current disclosure and update both the page and its review date.

Fidelity HSANoFidelity does not run an HSA affiliate program. We rank them #1 anyway because they are the best fit for most readers.
LivelyYesCommercial relationship - HSA Trackr earns a flat referral fee per funded account opened through our link. The fee is set by Lively, does not change what you pay, and does not influence ranking.
HealthEquityNoNo affiliate relationship. Linked from /best-hsa-providers for completeness because it is the largest US HSA provider by accounts.
HSA BankNoNo affiliate relationship. Linked for completeness.
Optum BankNoNo affiliate relationship. Linked for completeness.
FurtherNoNo affiliate relationship. Linked for completeness.

Last verified May 2026. Affiliate program participation changes over time; we re-verify quarterly and on any provider-initiated change.

Adjacent partners

HSA Trackr does not currently have affiliate relationships with any non-HSA partner. Telehealth services covered in our HSA-eligibility guides (Hims, Ro, Truemed, and others) are linked as plain references, not as commercial referrals. If that changes, the new partner will appear here with the same payment-status entry as the HSA ledger above.

Frequently asked

Does HSA Trackr accept payment to rank a provider higher?
No. Rankings are determined by account fees, investment minimums, fund expense ratios, and menu breadth - all measured against the same criteria for every provider on the list. Fidelity ranks #1 on /best-hsa-providers despite paying us nothing; Lively shares the top spot because the fee + investment math says so, not because they pay a commission.
What does HSA Trackr earn per affiliate signup?
Affiliate commissions on HSA accounts are modest (typically a flat fee per funded account, not a percentage of balance). Exact rates are set by the provider's affiliate program and change over time. We do not disclose specific dollar amounts because the contract terms forbid it, but the order of magnitude is small enough that no individual signup changes editorial judgment.
Why do you link to providers that don't pay you?
A best-of list that only includes the providers paying the publisher is a sales page, not a review. The point of /best-hsa-providers is to help you pick the right HSA - which often means Fidelity, who does not pay us anything. Without the non-affiliate providers, the page would be useless.
Are calculator results affected by your affiliate relationships?
No. The calculators on this site (tax savings, contribution limits, shoebox growth, reimburse-now vs later) use IRS contribution limits and the inputs you supply. They do not steer you toward any provider. The provider recommendation block that appears after a calculation lists the same top two providers in the same order on every page.
What happens if a provider asks HSA Trackr to change a review?
We do not change a review at a provider's request. Providers may flag a factual error (a fee that has changed, an updated investment minimum) and we will verify against the provider's current disclosure and update if confirmed. Subjective ranking or commentary is not negotiable.
How do I report a conflict of interest?
Email [email protected]. If a reviewer is found to have an undisclosed financial interest in a provider being ranked, the affected pages are flagged with a correction notice within 48 hours and the reviewer is removed from coverage of that provider.

Found a conflict of interest? Tell us.

If something on this site looks like it was steered by an affiliate relationship rather than the math, we want to know. Reader-flagged conflicts are reviewed within 48 hours and the affected pages get a correction notice if confirmed.
