OTC sleep aids containing active drug ingredients are HSA-eligible without a prescription. This includes ZzzQuil (diphenhydramine), Unisom (doxylamine), and similar products. Prescription sleep medications (Ambien, Lunesta) have always been eligible. Melatonin is also eligible (see separate entry). Note: herbal sleep supplements without active drug ingredients may not qualify unless they have a Drug Facts label.
